Dans was mijn eerste liefde én eerste expressie vorm, op de leeftijd dat ik nog geen woorden kon geven aan wat er van binnen leefde. Al gauw werd duidelijk dat ik hier ook op professioneel vlak iets mee wilde en vond ik, na het volgen van een opleiding aan een Klassieke Dansacademie, een plek als danseres bij Het Internationaal Danstheater.
Along the way I also discovered my love for other art forms, such as writing, and the desire to gain more knowledge and wisdom appeared as well. A desire that was fed with the question 'Who am I?'. It was a question I hoped to find an answer to from an early age. This led me to study Philosophy and Cultural Studies, with a specialization in Aesthetics and Cultural Diplomacy; the studies of art and beauty as a connecting factor, both on a personal level, between people, and between different countries and cultures.
After my graduation, I worked in the cultural and higher education sector for almost 10 years; including several years as head of the international Bachelor of Dance program at ArtEZ University of the Arts.
In those years I've participated within multiple professional leadership programs, served on several boards and committees, and co-founded AFCNederland.nl; a foundation by and for adoptees and foster adults.
Naast het bewandelen van mijn professionele pad is er ook lange tijd een andere beweging gaande geweest, waar ik me lange tijd niet bewust van was.
Door perinataal, vroegkinderlijk en intergenerationeel trauma, mijn ervaringen van het zijn afgestaan en geadopteerd, alsook door de invloed van de klassieke danswereld en andere sociaal maatschappelijke machts-structuren, ben ik onderweg in het leven de veilige verbinding met mijn lichaam en daardoor de verbinding met mezelf kwijtgeraakt. Dit heeft er uiteindelijk voor gezorgd dat ik een ander pad ben gaan bewandelen; de weg naar belichaming en bewustwording, ofwel de weg terug naar mezelf.
Where I initially started with yoga, systemic and embodied trauma work as personal development, I eventually have been educated in de krachtige technieken en methodes van o.a. Systemisch (trauma) werk en familie- en organisatie opstellingen aan de School van Systemisch Bewustzijn, Yoga & Meditatie aan Yia Yoga – School for Transformation in Panama, (adoptie) coaching bij Alpha Omnia,
en emotioneel lichaamswerk bij Esoterra – instituut voor lichaamsgerichte zorg en (trauma)therapie. Ook heb ik mezelf in diezelfde tijd gevormd tot tango danser en docent.
I have brought together the different paths I have taken and connected them within Aurum. A place that came to exist because the search for my own home and my love for expression, as well as for knowledge and wisdom have always been a common thread in my life. So that everything I have experienced and learned can be passed on in embodied ways and hopefully will inspire others.
That movement, for me, is an expression of beauty.
Aurum is the path of my soul.

I am a bi-cultural woman of Vietnamese-French, as well as English-speaking origin, born, adopted and raised in Dutch culture. Gradually I noticed that the answer to the question 'Who am I' only really reveals itself when you dare to descend into your whole being, when you can find the safety to connect to your own system, and the systems that you are part of. In other words, to embody yourself completely in all areas. And with that, dare to let go of things that are not yours as well.
I finally found the answer to the search for my own 'Sense of Self' by landing in and connecting with my entire body, heart, head and soul, my (biological) origin and cultures, and with the social and existential context in which I grew up. This has given me immense wealth on the one hand, and has brought existential losses and fears on the other. Not in the least the loss of my family, my culture, and myself.
Juist door met dit alles te leren verbinden, en mijn ervaringen te integreren, ben ik weer van mezelf. Ik kan vandaag de dag voelen wie ik ben en expressie geven aan al dat wat in mij leeft. Belichaamd; als Lichaams-filosoof, als Teacher en (Bege)Leider, als Tangodanser en als Schrijver. Als mens. Als Aurélie.
