AURUM
About Aurum
Mission
Therein lies the beauty, and the potential.
That's where we find the energy and life force.
That's the way home.

Vision
The Philosopher Socrates believed that life could be reduced to a few commandments.
'A life unexamined is not worth living', and 'Know thyself', the commandment that is also inscribed on the ancient Greek temple of Apollo at Delphi, are perhaps his most famous.
These commandments serve to inspire my vision for Aurum on the one hand. On the other hand, my vision is even more inspired by certain Eastern, Indigenous, African and Western philosophies and practices, focusing on the relationship with the body, as well as with nature, the community and culture. A line that can also found in Systemic way of thinking.
For one thing, you can best get to know yourself by looking at the network of meaningful relationships around you.
You are yourself precisely because of the connection with the other.
Besides, the answer to the question 'Who am I' cannot be thought through. It is something you need to experience, to feel. In other words, you need to embody it.
Embodied Wisdom is thus the ability to live by the wisdom that comes from the deep connection with ourselves, our whole body, our system and the world around us. From this space, clarity arises about your inner voice, your values, your morals and ethics, and with it your desires and your goals. Consequently sustainable power is awakened, and life can be lived to its fullest.
My first commandment is therefore 'Know thyself, by examining yourself, the context and systems you are part of in embodied ways.'
My second commandment is: 'Philosophy should be practised through the whole (of the) body'.
Embodying ourselves, however, is not so easy - partly thanks to the legacy of our achievement-oriented individualistic society, where we were primarily taught to grow up radically free and -autonomous and in our own heads, as well as to avoid uncomfortable feelings. As a result, we have become accustomed to solving most issues with the logic of Reason, instead of looking equally at what bodily sensations and feelings have to say and listening to the heart.
Many have lost touch with their body, heart and soul, and the systems of which they are a part. Their inner compass, the heart of their organism, is absent, so they no longer know who they are. External norms and values are provided, and an identity is often built around this. Whereby they have become socially successful, and thus become attached to, but where often the rest, including a sense of Self, has been put at a distance.
To be able to define your Self and to manifest it sustainably in and connect with the outside world, therefore requires a deep connection with all your feelings and sensations, with your whole body. And getting there requires a deep sense of security and trust, so that all your parts, experiences and identities can be integrated, and you can ultimately express your full and embodied (Sense of) Self.
Origin Aurum
Aurum is the Latin origin of the name Aurélie, and means Gold(en).
Gold is a precious metal that has moral and intrinsic values attached to it; principles that are seen as valuable, and with that the guidance towards a particular practice.
Two of its key values are quality and originality. Also, Gold is known for its soft structure, its beauty and lasting strength. This means that its values are preserved because, as a substance, it cannot be affected by other (acid) substances. So however the world reacts, gold bends and moves along with it, while remaining true to itself. It is free, autonomous ánd connected.
Meanwhile, by integrating all my parts and embodying myself, I have discovered that it symbolises the movement of my soul that resides in my body.
